Sturgis

Home of the world-famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Sturgis is a small Black Hills foothill town that swells by hundreds of thousands of riders each August for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The rest of the year it is a quiet main street with a good motorcycle museum.

Just outside town, Bear Butte State Park is a mountain that is sacred to many Native American tribes and has a summit trail with wide views.

Highlights

  • Sturgis Motorcycle Rally (August)
  • Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame

Local tips

  • The rally runs for ten days each August. Roads and lodging fill up across the whole Black Hills, so book early or plan around it.
